Easy breezy lake town living for an active young family. Our clients desired an open floor plan, updated kitchen, mudroom, and better flow throughout the main floor. They also wanted to capitalize on priceless views of Excelsior Bay all within the existing footprint of their 1880 home.
Upon demolition we reframed the entire main area to allow for an open-concept plan. With lake views as a priority, we relocated the kitchen from the backside of the house to the lakeside and incorporated a new wall of windows centered upon the farmhouse sink. The new layout now allows for entertaining family and friends by spilling over into the adjacent well-appointed dining room and living room. The mudroom allows for entrance into the home through the garage and flows directly into the kitchen, desk drop as well as the main stair case to the 2nd level. Adjacent to the bath and living room, the home office with exposed brick chimney allows the homeowner an escape from the main traffic areas of the home while still being involved.
Custom fixtures, natural woodwork, reclaimed lumber, and original car siding add a touch of history and character to the home. In the end the finished project is an updated thoughtful home with a nod to the past while allowing the home to carry into the future for another 140 years.
